Hike to the Fairies’ Spring

You leave the town of Korcula by transfer (if you prefer hiking all the way that’s fine too) to get us to the village of Zrnovo – one of the oldest settlements on the island. Its inhabitants gravitate to Korcula but nevertheless are well into wine and olive oil making, agriculture and stonemasonry. The churches of this little village spread out on a relatively large area are also a particularity coming from different visions and architectural styles.

There you’ll find a trail leading to a little and magical forest known as Kocje. It is a labyrinth of strangely shaped dolomite rocks overgrown with ivy, surrounded by holm oak, fern. Flora is interwoven in a most delicate way with cave-like spaces between the boulders dressed in moss seemingly hiding some primordial secrets. Although this protected area is relatively small it comes natural to spend some time exploring its green corridors, aromatic herbs or looking for the “Fairies’ spring”.

Some more walking and you will enjoy either rich taste of the most indigenous island wines or autochthonous organic olive oils and other great organic food products of the land in a great setting. Other option is to make olive oil & food tasting into a complete lunch (or dinner) to remember with more wonderful things at the table.

Having satisfied our palates it is time to complete our knowing of this serene area by walking (mostly downhill) to the town of Korcula or we simply get a transfer back (optional).
