The Ambience
The archipelago of islands spreading in the triangle between Korcula, Orebic and Lumbarda is a wonderful setting for daily sailing even by Dalmatian standards. These pine-covered islets, abundant with little pebble beaches, are a favorite local summer retreat ideal for relaxing picnic, snorkeling or activities such as sailing due to excellent wind conditions in the channel between Korcula island and Peljesac peninsula. Badija hosts a Franciscan monastery and there are lovely pathways around the island where you can meet deers, Vrnik used to be exploited for its stone– the abandoned quarry is still attraction with its remains, Romans left their traces on Majsan…
The Experience
Whether you choose to sail in the morning, afternoon or sunset the meeting point is in the center of the town of Korcula – rare jewel whose extraordinary architecture and beauty have for centuries attracted conquerors, seamen, artists, traders and adventurers of all kinds. Based on the wind direction your skipper will navigate the boat so you get the nicest perception of the town and neighboring sights. Undisturbed by engine perhaps you will be able to evoke the arrival of Trojan hero Antenor who is said to have dropped anchor and founded a settlement right there where Korcula proudly stands today or imagine the famous naval battle of Korcula when Marco Polo fell captive to Genovese.
A glass of wine at the right moment, scattered islands hiding your perfect little beach, impressive mountain of Sveti Ilija towering above the channel separating the island and Peljesac, view to passing sailboats, windsurfers and fishermen, turquoise water, cooling breeze in a protected cove – there are many reasons to take this special trip.
