When Greeks came to start a new colony in Lumbarda they met local people of Illyrians who already grew vines. The production of wine in this area has along with its history seen ups and downs ever since but we can say that right now in this period there is a true revival of wine industry in Dalmatia and particularly on Korcula.
Korcula is also called “a dark island of white wines” meaning that it true wine nature is best experienced in its whites, and being so gorgeous they have been known to convert red wine lovers and yet at the same time despite living in shade of these famous whites, the reds make every year more and more impact on the wine scene.
We will take you to one of the best representatives of wine-making in the east part of the island to start your day the right way.
After wine it’s time for a ride – driving along the panoramic south side of the island with views opening to seemingly endless horizon will eventually get you to a great beach to have a swim, relax…
Then you’ll drive for another bit and on to a tasty meal based exclusively on locally grown, organic ingredients prepared with love and according to old recipes, often with some twist, and all of it in an old and authentic Dalmatian setting as a final touch to your wine, swim and food journey.
